Click Medical stands at the front of cutting edge technological advancements that are moving amputees forward in their lives. We believe that ‘no limits living’ is the mindset that takes people to new heights.
As we continue our exploration into the lives of people who have defied all odds against them, we turn to a brave woman who took a tragic accident and created an empowering mission out of it.
Shortly before Christmas 2015 without much fanfare Niki Rellon crossed an invisible line in VA and became the first amputee to hike the 2300+mi Appalachian Trail.
The journey began in March of 2015 with a traditional prosthetic socket. After a few days on the trail Niki had to suspend her hike because of severe skin damage from the lack of adjustability of her traditional socket. Soon after, Click Medical with the help of Zack Harvey, at Creative Technologies donated a new adjustable RevoFit socket to Niki.
Once back on the trail Niki had what she needed to put all that determination and commitment to work. Her adjustable socket gave her the ability to adjust her socket throughout the day as her limb volume changed.
The results were dramatic – she became the first amputee to hike all 2300 miles of the trail. Of course her accomplishment was result of her grit, courage and determination. But having the right equipment was also important and the RevoFit prosthetic proved to be an important ally in her journey.
