Click Medical consistently delivered adjustable products to practices without pause during the pandemic, but the real innovation story is how we’re adjusting the industry.
Prosthetists typically create rigid sockets that can only be changed with a complicated system of socks or by scheduling additional appointments to manage the fit of a socket…again, and again, and again. The ripple effect of this lack of adjustability is deadly. Of the amputees who receive prosthetics, up to 45% abandon them within a year, leaving these people dependent on caregivers and unable to stay active, healthy, and strong. Tens of thousands of amputees are dying, and millions of healthcare dollars are being wasted on devices that don’t work.
Enter Covid-19, and this situation worsens — dramatically. With limited ability to visit their practitioners, amputees have had to manage their poor fitting prosthesis by themselves — for months. This has led to extreme mobility limitations, exacerbated comorbidities, and declining overall health.
For those practices that have adopted regular use of RevoFit® adjustability, this scenario has played out differently. Practitioners are outfitting up to 80% of their patients with RevoFit® and reporting fewer patient issues for those who are able to adjust their own sockets. Additionally, we have found that practitioners are able to effectively work with patients “remotely” because they can talk to them over the phone to manage the fit of their socket with a simple turn of a dial.
With much of the O&P workforce sidelined or limited from full-time hours in their clinics, they needed innovative solutions for this challenging time. So, we adjusted the way we educate practitioners. We met prosthetists virtually, providing accredited education and training that fundamentally changes patient care and the way providers conduct their business. 2400+ practitioners worldwide have engaged in our risk-free “Can You Adjust?” education program or one of our dedicated advanced training webinars to learn how adjustability improves a provider’s business’s efficiency and ability to serve patients.
Practitioners are also reporting a significant economic benefit from using RevoFit®. With the ability to serve patients over the phone for simple fit issues, they have more time to focus the clinic’s attention on seeing patients who truly needed an in-person visit. This focus served those patients better! But, it also leads to more profitability for the clinic by shifting the schedule away from “fit appointments” and into more highly reimbursed care.
The verdict is in — adjustability works. It works for patients — at the time they need it. It works for practitioners providing remote care. It works for practices that focus their in-clinic hours on reimbursable events.
Since 2015 Click Medical has been helping amputees to adjust. Little did we know how truly valuable adjustability would become during the limitations of a pandemic.
The time to adjust is now.
