Our good friend Stephen Drew recently undertook an inspiring 2,000km cycling journey from Windhoek to Knysna, demonstrating remarkable resilience and adventure. After a motorbike accident in 2016 led to the amputation of his right leg above the knee, Stephen embraced cycling, progressing from indoor sessions to challenging races. Inspired by Namibia’s vast landscapes, Stephen and his friend Willy embarked on the Namibian Ride of Independence in 2023. They faced extreme heat, rough terrains, and unexpected challenges, relying on local kindness and resourcefulness. Lexie Bader’s story is one of remarkable transformation and resilience. Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, she spends her weekends snowboarding, rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, electric longboarding, and camping. This adventurous spirit has always defined her life, even through the most challenging times. A snowboarding accident in 2015 marked the beginning of Lexie’s journey with limb loss. The accident resulted in a shattered foot and subsequent bunion surgery, which unfortunately did not heal properly. Lexie underwent 28 to 30 surgeries, ultimately leading to a diagnosis of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a rare nerve disease with no cure.
