Click Medical awarded a scholarship earlier this year to send one female O&P student or recent graduate on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, to a Range of Motion Project (ROMP) Volunteer Clinic! Sarah Frutchey, CTPO, was introduced to the fascinating world of the O&P industry by her advisor at Saint Petersburg College. Prior to that moment, Sarah had been unaware of this field’s existence. Meet Chris Rains, a South Carolina native who defied the odds and transformed his life after a life-altering accident. Despite considering himself a non-athletic “big kid” while growing up, Chris discovered the therapeutic benefits of physical activity following his disability. In April 2015, Chris experienced a traumatic incident when his truck collided with an 18-wheeler on I-85. Rescuers, including paramedics and firefighters, saved his life by using a Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) to control the severe bleeding from his right leg. After his first surgery was done by general trauma surgeons, specialized surgeons later came in and determined that due to additional trauma, a below-the-knee amputation would not heal correctly.…
