Adjustability Mentor, Sydney Marshburn, watched the 2021 Paralympic Opening Ceremony the night before she lost her leg. At the time, she felt worlds apart from the athletes marching into the Tokyo stadium—uncertain of what her future as an amputee would look like and whether she could ever regain the strength and confidence she once had. Three years later, she sat in the crowd at the 2024 Games in Paris, no longer questioning her place in the world but fully embracing her identity and her goals.
Now, she’s setting her sights on the 2028 Paralympics in Los Angeles. Inspired by the resilience of the athletes she once watched from a hospital bed, Sydney is determined to take her place among them, not just as a competitor but as an advocate for adjustability, accessibility, and the limitless potential of amputees.
